IMPORTANT NOTICE - Regarding the External Restoration of Buildings

We are increasingly seeing buildings where wax or silicone-based products have been applied to external elements of buildings including cladding and curtain walling.

In many cases, these products are NOT certified to BS EN13501-1 which is the European/UK standard for classifying construction products' reaction to fire and have never been tested for flammability or fire spread. It evaluates ignitability, heat release, flame spread, smoke production (S1-S3), and flaming droplets (D0-D2), with A1 and A2 classifications representing the highest level of fire safety performance.

Where non-certified coatings have been applied, there is a potential risk that fire performance has been compromised.

In addition to this, these types of products generally fail within 12 months as shown below due to cross linking of the original components, leading to deterioration in both performance and appearance.

At BROMOCO International Ltd, all restoration systems are fully certified to BS EN 13501-1 (Class A1), ensuring they meet the highest fire safety standards, whilst offering the unique Bromoco 2, 5 and 10 year performance guarantees.  Our specialist network is experienced in safely removing failed or non-compliant coatings without damaging the underlying substrate, before restoring the original finish to its intended colour and lustre.

If you have concerns about the compliance or condition of your building’s external coatings, we offer a free, no-obligation site assessment along with professional guidance on the most appropriate solution.
